Nags Head Sunset & Morning Kayak & SUP Tours

Kayak or stand up paddle board (SUP) along the marshes of Cape Hatteras National Seashore by way of our Nags Head Kayak Tour. This beautiful area of the Outer Banks is known for its abundance of coastal birds including terns, pelicans, and ibis. Because of the shallow and clear water we can often see blue crabs and stingray next to our kayaks. Dolphins are often playing and swimming near by. You’ll hear entertaining stories about pirates and how the town of Nags Head got its strange name.

Our Nags Head Kayak Tours are offered in the mornings, at sunset, and at night. These kayak and SUP tours along with our spectacular night-time Bioluminescence / Full Moon Kayak Tours are located at our Nags Head location. Please note the start times for our sunset and night-time kayak tours will change throughout the summer months based on the time of sunset. During the summer months, sunset in the Outer Banks can usually be expected around 8pm. We’ll email you with the exact start time if it’s different than the time posted.  *Please note: As with all outdoor activities, our kayak tours are subject to weather related changes. We recommend making reservations for early on in your vacation so we can move your tour to another date if needed.

Tour length: Approximately 1.5 hours
Morning Tour Prices: $45 per person / $30 for children ages 12 and under / $60 for SUP
Sunset/Moonlight Tour Prices: $60 per person / $50 for children ages 12 and under

Nags Head Kayak Tour meets at: 7531 S Virginia Dare Trl, Nags Head. Look for the “Nags Head Pizza Co” sign; we are located in the same building and our door is 3 steps from theirs. We’re in a yellow building but there are several yellow kayak rental buildings nearby. Please be sure you go to the correct building! You’ll want to plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes prior to the tour start time.

Outer Banks Kayak Adventures provides the best kayaking experience on the OBX. We use American-made Perception Kayaks which are known for being extremely versatile, making it the top choice for beginner and intermediate paddlers. If you are not very experienced with kayaking and SUP (stand up paddle boarding) fear not! Before each of our tours, Outer Banks Kayak Adventures provides a paddle lesson on land before you begin, ensuring that you and your group have the experience they need before paddling.

There are NO shoe or clothing requirements. Along with kayaks, Outer Banks Kayak Adventures provides the paddles and life jackets. We offer single and tandem (double) kayaks and we use sit on top style hybrid kayaks, making it easy for you to get in and out. Please be sure to select the number of tandem (double) kayaks you’d like for your tour when making the online reservation. We recommend children 12 and under paddle in a tandem (double) kayak with an adult, but it’s not a requirement. If your child is ages 10-12 years old and you’re super confident in their kayaking ability, you can request that your child paddle a single kayak (please do so only if you’re certain your child can paddle the entire trip). Unless requested otherwise, all children ages 12 and under will be placed in a tandem (double) kayak with an adult.
