Kelly and Justin learned to stand up paddle board in Kitty Hawk with Outer Banks Kayak Adventures.  Kelly mentioned that she wanted to see a cottonmouth snake and a river otter.  We got lucky and saw several river otters swimming in the water and a cottonmouth entangled in branches just inches above the water.  We also saw many turkey vultures gathered in the trees.  Their behavior was interesting and they seemed to be trying to decide which tree they wanted to roost in.  I later did some research and apparently turkey vultures tend to roost on the same branch every night which explains their behavior.  Hopefully we continue to see these large vultures on our evening tours throughout the summer.  Kelly and Justin are now great stand up paddlers and I look forward to paddling with them again the next time they’re in OBX!
